ISRO free course on satellite remote sensing of the atmosphere and receive a free ISRO certificate

One of the most crucial methods for monitoring the entire atmosphere is satellite remote sensing. Significant progress has been made in our understanding of the weather, air quality, and climate thanks to satellite remote sensing. Researchers and the scientific community are becoming increasingly interested in using satellite data to examine diverse atmospheric phenomena, such as monsoons, fog, tropical cyclones, and air pollution episodes. The course will give an overview of retrieving atmospheric parameters from satellite observations, monitoring fog, tracking tropical cyclones, and monitoring rainfall using VIS/IR and MW sensors. It will also cover different types of air pollutants, air pollution episodes, and air pollution plume monitoring. The course is therefore of particular interest to those who want to understand how to use satellite observations in atmospheric research, including professionals, researchers, and students.

Course Content:

Overview of atmospheric parameter extraction methods utilising satellite data

Satellite-based VIS/IR and MW sensors for Rainfall

• Satellite remote sensing to monitor and retrieve fog

• Monitoring tropical cyclones with satellite data Satellite-based particulate matter monitoring

• Satellite-based monitoring of gaseous air pollutants

Can anyone apply?

Candidates must be in their last year of an undergraduate or graduate programme to be eligible to participate (any year). Faculty, researchers in universities and institutions, and technical and scientific staff of the federal and state governments are also eligible to apply for this course. Participants' applications must be properly sponsored by the university or institution and forwarded to the coordinators from the appropriate centres. The course is intended for professionals, students, and researchers from universities, private organisations, and non-governmental organisations (NGO) who are interested in atmospheric and environmental science.
